There are many ways to give and get involved, and they are currently developing new in-person volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups.
Our mission is to bring comfort and hope through art to people in healthcare facilities in Atlanta and around the world. Our vision is to make hospitals beautiful places for healing and our quest is to donate at least one painting to every hospital on Earth. We design multi-panel, color-coded murals on canvas that are painted by volunteers at PaintFest events and then donated to brighten the walls of hospitals and lift patient spirits. Artistic talent is not required. Whether painting team building-style with large groups or reception-style walk-up stations for small groups, there are multiple setups that will fit any meeting.
Since 1984, we have involved over one million people and donated over 53,000 paintings to over 8,500 hospitals across 195 countries. PaintFests are CSR events that will impact thousands of patients and families for years to come.
Furkids operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats along with Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for dogs. The Furkids mission is to rescue homeless animals, provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment while working to find them a forever home. Furkids heals the whole animal, physically and emotionally, restoring its health and its spirit. Furkids has rescued and altered more than 55,000 animals since its founding in 2002.
The shelter provides a wonderful volunteer opportunity for groups of all ages and sizes. Furkids is the only animal rescue organization in metro Atlanta that allows children of all ages to volunteer.
Global Village Project was founded 15 years ago and is the only school in the U.S. dedicated to serving refugee girls. Global Village Project’s (GVP) mission is to reactivate the education of refugee girls so that they can access all the benefits of a holistic education in Atlanta, Georgia. Our transformative educational model is designed to not only meet the needs of refugee young women, but also amplify the strengths, skills, and voices they bring to our learning community. Through the foundation they acquire at GVP, refugee girls gain the tools and support they need to become highly successful students and empowered citizens.
As a tuition-free, nonprofit middle school, donations made to our school support all areas of our student’s academic lives, as well as how GVP supports students beyond the classroom through our mentoring and alumni programming. Volunteer positions offer the opportunity to build relationships with refugee girls, mentor them academically, and help with their personal success and challenges. To donate, volunteer, and for more information, please visit our website at www.globalvillageproject.org.
